ASSYST, Northern Virginia - April 2008: ASSYST has been tasked to help an international financial institution to migrate their existing web-based Proposal Tracking and Management System to SharePoint. The existing system is used to track and manage research proposals submitted for funding. Staff members at the Financial Institution apply online for research funding, and the system manages and tracks such requests for funds. The current system, however, cannot be linked to institutional data and budget management systems (e.g. Business Warehouse, SAP, IRIS). Moreover, the existing system is not designed to generate summary reports. With the migration to SharePoint the system will allow such integration and will have a comprehensive reporting capability.

Migration to SharePoint will make the tracking and management of research proposals far more efficient.  SharePoint migration will allow the system to interact with institutional data and budget systems. On completion of the project the new system will be able to maintain up-to-date information on budget allocations, project status, and project outputs. The new SharePoint based system will also facilitate electronic interactions between researchers and the current users of the system, in addition to providing additional controls and validation points.

PIMS has streamlined the maintenance and management of County volunteer firefighter referral and membership data, IECS status updates, and LOSAP benefits .Users need only use a Web browser to securely access PIMS from home or from work any time of the day throughout the year.  The PIMS LOSAP, IECS, and Membership application components were developed to enable administrators and LFRD users to manage, maintain, analyze, and/or quantify County volunteer firefighter membership data including referral, medical status, and background check data, LOSAP benefit data, and IECS certifications. PIMS was integrated into the County's Single Sign-On (SSO) architecture to provide secure, any time access to designated application user groups from the workplace or from a remote location such as the Fire Station.  PIMS interfaces were designed intuitively to enable users to navigate quickly and perform daily tasks.
