    ASSYST, McLean, VA – January 2007: The special recognition was bestowed by Colleen Barros, Deputy Director for Management, National Institutes of Health.

     

    ASSYST, Inc. (Advanced Software Systems, Inc.) was selected as a member of NIH’s NITAAC (National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center) Team to receive the agency bureau’s OD Merit Honor Award. According to NIH’s Deputy Director for Management, Colleen Barros, ASSYST received the award for “extraordinary service and leadership”, to the NIH and DHHS major IT acquisitions.

     

    “Your efforts as a team and as individuals were exemplary and benefit the NIH. Although [our Director] Dr Zerhouni will be sending you a letter formally notifying you of your award, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for a job well done!” Ms. Barros told ASSYST.

     

    On November 6, 2006 the ASSYST Team at the National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC), along with NITAAC staff were on hand at the NIH facility to receive the NIH Merit Award for extraordinary leadership in IT procurement systems.  The activities and systems ASSYST was involved in at NIH include the following:

    • Military Inter-Departmental Purchase Request (MIPR) and Inter-Agency Agreements (IAA): ASSYST, working for NITAAC, developed the MIPR system to track MIPRs and IAAs.
    • NITACC Website, which plays a vital role in supporting the three GWAC contracts they manage.
    • Electronic Commodity Store (ECS) III: ECS III RFQ system is the flagship of the NITAAC web site.  This system was designed and built by ASSYST at NITAAC when the Government Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) was awarded.
    • Chief Information Officers Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations (CIO-SP2i) and Image World 2 (IW2): ASSYST redesigned the entire database to make it more robust and increase the performance of the applications.  ASSYST implemented security protocols to limit access of the information to authorized users only.
    • NIH’s FOIA System: The FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) system is a tracking system that was developed by ASSYST to track the disposition of FOIA requests that come to NITAAC. 
    • CHECKs System: ASSYST developed this system to help the NITAAC Finance Team track fee payments.
    • Section 508: ASSYST developers ensure that their web pages are compliant with Section 508 requirements for accessibility.
    • electronic-Government Ordering System (e-GOS) System: ASSYST has been involved in supporting NITAAC’s efforts to produce a new e-GOS. 

     

    No stranger to NIH: ASSYST is no stranger to working with Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health.
